But he shall not multiply horses to himself, nor cause the people to return to Egypt, to the end that he should multiply horses: forasmuch as the LORD hath said unto you, Ye shall henceforth return no more that way. Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn not away: neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold. Their land also is full of silver and gold, neither is there any<\/i> end of their treasures; their land is also full of horses, neither is there any<\/i> end of their chariots: <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Isa 31:1-3 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are<\/i> many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD! Yet he also is<\/i> wise, and will bring evil, and will not call back his words: but will arise against the house of the evildoers, and against the help of them that work iniquity. Now the Egyptians are<\/i> men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When the LORD shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fail together. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Eze 17:15 But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and much people. Shall he prosper? shall he escape that doeth such things?<\/i> or shall he break the covenant, and be delivered? <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Mat 2:1, 2 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Joh 6:15 When Jesus therefore perceived (after feeding the 5000) that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Joh 19:15 But they cried out, Away with him,<\/i> away with him,<\/i> crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Joh 19:19-22 And Pilate wrote a title, and put it<\/i> on the cross. And the writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS. This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and<\/i> Greek, and<\/i> Latin. Then said the chief priests of the Jews to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Jews; but that he said, I am King of the Jews. Pilate answered, What I have written I have written. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Hundreds of years before Solomon came to the throne, the Lord, foreseeing the perils that would beset those who might be chosen as rulers of Israel, gave Moses instruction for their guidance. Directions were given that he who should sit on the throne of Israel should “write him a copy” of the statutes of Jehovah “in a book out of that which is before the priests the Levites.” “It shall be with him,” the Lord said, “and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the Lord his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them: that his heart be not lifted up above his brethren, and that he turn not aside from the commandment, to the right hand, or to the left: to the end that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he, and his children, in the midst of Israel.” Deuteronomy 17:18-20.<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n In connection with this instruction the Lord particularly cautioned the one who might be anointed king not to “multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn not away: neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold.” Verse 17. <\/i> PK 52<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
